Who Was Born in the Manger?
Bereans,
For this Christmas Eve post, I'd like to share the following excerpt from John MacArthur's Christmas message to The Master's University alumni.
The answers to that question are myriad. Some say Jesus was just a good teacher. Some say He was only a good example. Others say He was a religious madman or a fake, perpetrating a hoax like every other would-be Savior. And many have said He didn’t exist at all, that He was only a myth.
The child in the manger that night was the Lord of all, and we must glorify Him as such. For the believer, Jesus is the person that must be the center of all you do. This Christmas, I pray that the Lord's rule and reign in heaven, and His impending return would dominate your thoughts of Him, much more so than the sentimentality of a baby in a manger.
I wish you many spiritual blessings in Christ this Christmas.
Grace and peace to you,
J.W.

What child is this? Pilate called Him the man without fault. Diderot said, He was the unsurpassed. Napoleon called Him the emperor of love. Strauss said, He is “the highest model of religion.”
What child is this? Thomas had it right. He looked at Him and said, “My Lord and my God.” In John’s gospel, John begins by stating that very fact in verse 1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Speaking more of Christ in verse 14, John said this, “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”And in verse 18, he continued by saying, “No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.”
Who was born in the manger that night? It was God in human flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yours for the Master,
Dr. John MacArthur | Chancellor
