Thanksgiving...Good, Bad, and Heartwarming

In observance of Thanksgiving, I'm sharing a couple of articles about this uniquely American holiday.  

The first, by Kevin DeYoung, has some interesting history about the journey this celebration took toward becoming a national holiday.  Most importantly, he exhorts Christians to celebrate the holiday in accordance with its original intent of thanking our Creator and repenting of sin.  Even though our neighbors see it as a secular holiday and may not know Whom to thank, believers know that we are called to praise and thank Yahweh, the one, true God.

This next link is about an abhorrent article published by the liberal news magazine, The Nation, in which women express "thanksgiving" for their abortions.  This is an example of the depths that those who hate God will go to in order to shake their fist in His face.  We should not be fooled into thinking that the enemies of our God and His church will quietly withdraw because their "right" to abortion has been taken away.  No, they will become more bold and defiant in their insurrection against Yahweh and His Christ (Psalm 2:1-3).

The final link I'll share is a heartwarming story about an accidental Thanksgiving text that has turned into an unusual friendship.  God never gets a wrong address, so believers ought to always be ready to use every providential opportunity to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:34-40).
