Evangelical Compromise on Sexuality
Bereans,
One of the most discouraging things we see happening in evangelical Christianity is high profile leaders compromising in regard to sexual morality. It is clear that the pressure from the world to conform to their views on sexuality is having a profoundly negative effect on evangelical leaders who are in the spotlight.
While we cannot know the hearts of others, it seems mighty suspicious that they are embracing new definitions of sin that orthodox Christians have never embraced before. This comes at a time when popular culture increasingly minimizes and "cancels" anyone who upholds what Scripture says about sexuality.
It is hard not to draw the conclusion that they want to remain relevant and be respected in the eyes of the world. It seems that they fear losing their "platform" if they uphold biblical truth. It appears that the strategy they've bought into is one of putting a "nuance" on Scripture to make it more palatable to the world so they will be able to maintain some level of respect and acceptance.
This is compromise, and it will only end in ruin. The Word of God stands and it cannot be nuanced, or "broken" to fit the times and culture (John 10:35). I'm thankful that some prominent leaders are standing up and calling out others who compromise.
The first article below is of Franklin Graham's bold rebuke of "Christian" singer Amy Grant's decision to host the same-sex "wedding" of her niece. (Ms. Grant already showed her disdain for God's will regarding marriage when she left her first husband to marry a country music star.) The second link is of a Conversations That Matter podcast discussing and exposing prominent evangelicals who are compromising truth to fit the world's ever degrading definition of sin.

I pray for those who have compromised to repent, as they are leading others astray by minimizing the seriousness of their sin.
Grace and peace to you,
