Berean Covenant Church

We are a body of believers characterized by a love for the Word of God and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We take seriously the Scripture's instruction to “prove everything”. We have given thoughtful study and consideration to every element of our church worship, government, and practice. We strive to submit every aspect of our lives to the Scripture as our final authority. It is our desire that we be known as a people of the Word. Therefore, we aim to be modern-day Bereans.

And the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea; and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so. (Acts 17:10-11)

Biblical salvation means being in covenant with God, and with His people. We emphasize the importance of the commitment and responsibilities that are inherent in a covenant relationship. A study of the biblical concept of covenants is required for membership at Berean Covenant. A clear understanding of the role of covenant in Scripture and church life is crucial to maintaining a church body united in mind and purpose.

The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He will make them know His covenant. (Psalm 25:14)

What is Reformed Theology?
Our next Sunday evening study course, beginning May 6 at 6:00 p.m., will be What is Reformed Theology? by R.C. Sproul. You may have heard of Reformed theology, but you're not certain what it is. Some references to it have been positive, some negative. It appears to be important, and you'd like to know more about it. And you want a full explanation, not a simplistic one.

The roots of evangelical Christianity are found in the soil of the 16th century Protestant Reformation, Which brought a return of true biblical theology to the world. In this series, Dr. Sproul offers an introduction to Reformed theology in this 12-lesson course. C.H. Spurgeon once said that Reformed theology is nothing other than biblical Christianity.

"Passages"
Passages, the largest travelling Bible exhibit in the U.S., takes you on a walk through history behind the scenes of the most-banned, most-debated, most-translated, best-selling book of all time. The 23,203 square-foot, family-oriented, nonsectarian exhibition brings the dramatic story of the of the capturing, preservation, translation, and new discoveries of the Bible to life in a rich, interactive, once-in-a-lifetime experience for all ages.

This exhibition is in Atlanta through June 30. If we have a group of 15 or more going, the price is $12.95 per adult and $8.95 per child. Let J.W. know if you're interested.

Gospel Coalition Women's Conference
The Gospel Coalition will host its first ever national conference for women in Orlando, June 22-24. The conference will feature nationally known reformed evangelical authors, speakers, and wives of pastors. We have several ladies that are interested in attending, so we will organize group transportation. If you are interested in going, you can register online here.

Anna Poole's India Mission
The time is quickly approaching for you to make a decision regarding a commitment of regular support or a one-time gift for Anna Poole's year-long mission trip to India. She must meet her minimum commitment levels before she can leave. Biblical Counseling Resources
The elders are providing a new series of mini book resources produced by the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF). The CCEF teaches people how to explore the wisdom and depth of the Bible and apply its grace-centered message to the problems of daily living. Simply put, their mission is to: Restore Christ to Counseling and Counseling to the Church. The mini books are very short reads that are packed with solid biblical counsel for some of the most pressing issues facing believers in the twenty-first century. These booklets are available to you in the front room of the children/fellowship building for $2 each. There will also be one of each pamphlet placed in the library for check-out. Some of the topics we already have include:

Prayer and Fasting for Guidance Regarding our Need for a Larger Facility
Our elders have asked the BCC body to pray and fast for the Lord's guidance concerning securing a larger facility for us to worship, fellowship, and host Bible studies. The Lord has blessed us with growth in the past several months, and the necessity has arisena larger facility to accommodate our growth. Continue to be in prayer and fast once each week, asking for wisdom for our elders and the building team, as well as for God to be glorified in all we are about to do!
